Andrea Leila Denecke

Andrea Leila DeneckeThe elusive and enigmatic communications of form have been Andrea's focus for her work. She creates objects that evoke memory responses or instill a meditative state based on various stimuli.

These range from her appreciation of the beauty of the cosmos to her empathy for the Zen rock gardens of Japan. She has chosen to work with abstract minimal forms, which have a simplicity and similarity about them and yet can also elicit a feeling of strength and timelessness.

Andrea is interested in the suggestion of images, ideas or emotions that can call the viewers into active participation by leading them to seek a completion with their imagination and memory, rather than the telling of stories. She creates steel that can be seen as monuments or markers, a reference to life, death and the passage of time. Through the quiet power of simple forms, influenced by nature and culture.

She seeks to provide an island of tranquility and grace for the beholder to contemplate.
